Starting this 1st of April 2019, banning the use of free disposable plastic bags in large supermarkets (165 – 3000 sqm.) will be enforced.
Disposable bags and shopping bags in bakeries will not be provided for free with the exception of paper bags and inner plastic bags.
This is following the drive to get rid of single-use plastic that started last year with the coffee shops trying to encourage their customers to use reusable mugs and tumbler.
I am totally relieved that I am not the weird one anymore who brings my own tumbler at the coffee shop on the rare occasions that I go there. Then, there are the rolled plastic bags at the supermarket that I try to avoid or at least minimize using by putting the potatoes and carrots together in one bag.
Hopefully, more people will realize the part that they can play in the ultimate goal of protecting the environment through these little ways.
